Success Story — Jetaphat Photiphan: From SUIC to Birmingham City University and First-Class Honors

Jetaphat Photiphan graduated from SUIC with a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts, majoring in Digital Communication Design. During his studies he took two courses taught by our Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Pattisan Kemrichard — Foundation of Moving Images in his first year and UX/UI Design in his second — earned a place on a scholarship exchange program at Birmingham City University, and graduated with first-class honors.

He shared the following testimonial with the academy, and we publish it here in full, in his own words.

Looking back on my academic journey, I can confidently say that his guidance played an important role in my development as both a student and a designer.

In His Own Words

My name is Jetaphat Photiphan, and I am a graduate of SUIC with a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts, majoring in Digital Communication Design. During my time at the university, I had the opportunity to study under Dr. Pattisan Kemrichard in two different courses: Foundation of Moving Images during my first year and UX/UI Design during my second year. Looking back on my academic journey, I can confidently say that his guidance played an important role in my development as both a student and a designer.

One of the qualities that stood out most to me was his willingness to support his students throughout the creative process. Design is a field that requires continuous revision, experimentation, and improvement. Throughout both courses, Dr. Pattisan consistently took the time to provide detailed feedback on my assignments and projects. Rather than simply evaluating the final outcome, he emphasized the importance of improving each stage of the process. He encouraged me to revisit my work, identify areas that could be strengthened, and continue refining my ideas until they reached a higher standard.

In Foundation of Moving Images, I learned the fundamentals of visual storytelling and the importance of communicating ideas effectively through motion and imagery. The course challenged me to think beyond technical execution and focus on how visual elements could be used to deliver a clear message. Dr. Pattisan’s feedback helped me understand that strong creative work is built on both conceptual thinking and careful attention to detail.

Later, in UX/UI Design, his teaching introduced me to a different perspective on design by focusing on the relationship between users and digital experiences. The course strengthened my understanding of usability, user-centered thinking, and problem-solving. Once again, his guidance extended beyond classroom lectures. He carefully reviewed assignments, pointed out areas that needed improvement, and provided constructive suggestions that helped me develop stronger design solutions.

What I appreciated most about Dr. Pattisan’s teaching was that his feedback was always practical and specific. He did not simply tell students whether their work was good or bad. Instead, he explained why certain aspects could be improved and how those improvements could be achieved. This approach created an environment in which learning became an active process rather than a passive one.

His emphasis on continuous improvement encouraged me to become more disciplined, more detail-oriented, and more confident in my abilities.

The impact of his teaching extended far beyond the classroom. The skills and mindset that I developed through his courses contributed significantly to my academic achievements. They helped me earn the opportunity to participate in a scholarship exchange program at Birmingham City University, where I spent one semester studying during my final year. That experience allowed me to broaden my academic and cultural perspectives while applying many of the design principles that I had learned throughout my studies.

His mentorship also played a meaningful role in helping me graduate with first-class honors. While academic success is ultimately the result of personal effort, I believe that supportive educators can have a lasting influence on a student’s growth. Dr. Pattisan was one of those educators for me. His emphasis on continuous improvement encouraged me to become more disciplined, more detail-oriented, and more confident in my abilities.

I am sincerely grateful for the opportunity to have learned from Dr. Pattisan. His dedication to teaching, his commitment to helping students improve, and his ability to provide thoughtful and constructive guidance have left a lasting impression on me. I will always consider his courses to be an important part of my academic journey and one of the key factors that contributed to my growth as both a student and a graduate.
